Greenwich Village Romantic Couples Photo Sessions that Feel Like the Movies

I think the reason people love taking their photos in Greenwich Village is because it reminds them of the movies. As an artistic photographer who is moving more and more in the direction of Cinematic Photography, I also love Greenwich Village for giving movie vibes.

There's something about movies made in New York that makes them feel romantic and epic. A visual story for our eyes and our hearts.

Some of my absolute favorite movies filmed in New York are: You've Got Mail, When Harry Met Sally (the scene at The Met is one of my favorite shots and improvisations of any movie ever- go watch it!), A Rainy Day in New York (I know, this one is a hit or a miss depending on your love for Woody Allen), Hitch, 27 Dresses, Begin Again (I love LOVE this movie), Enchanted, Past Lives (genius cinematophography), and John Wick (yeah-- that scene with all the assassins in Central Park gives me chills!). I'm sorry to literally everyone who thought Serendipity should be on this list, but no. It just isn't for me.

I know, you don't really need a list of movies to know that this is a great city to have a photo session in. But I do want you to know that these movies, I study them. I study the shots. The angles. I study the REASON why we love them. The chemistry. The lighting. It all matters to me because it's what I'm creating with you when you book a photo session with me: photos and short videos that tell your story (or a story) the way the movies would.

Couples photoshoot in Greenwich Village Autumn Vibes

So while I 100% offer photo session all around the many romantic corners of New York City-- I absolutely LOVE taking photos in Greenwich Village (any season), because of those romantic vibes it gives with all it's Brownstones, Cobblestone streets, and proximity to taxis, crosswalks, and cute little cafes. It's ironic because in a lot of of ways, I think Greenwich Village sort of feels like the Europe of New York.

And because I know you're wondering, what's my shortlist for other Romantic spots in New York City? It depends on the time of day and the amount of tourists you want to dodge, but I'll give you my favorite spots as a photographer who has been doing this for many years (aka, these are the spots I never get tired of):

  1. Greeley Square Park, Grand Central Station (only early in the mornings on a weekend), and Remi43 (early mornings on a weekend).

  2. The Shakespeare Garden, Ladies Pavillion(early morning or sunset), and Oak Bridge in Central Park. I actually really love the boats in Central Park, I just think you have to go right when they open or right as they are closing to get the best lighting. Or go on a cloudy day.

  3. Conservatory Water (the place with the boats) in Central Park early in the morning is exquisite. This is unavailable in the winter.

  4. I'm a sucker for Little Island and The Highline, but only in the mornings when the sun is rising.

  5. Call me cheesy, but I actually think Top of the Rock is one of my favorite spots for photos. I love the views of the Empire State Buidling and the entire city. If you go on a weekday or early in the morning you won't have to share as much of it with tourists.

If you're visiting New York City (or you've lived here for ages) and you want Greenwich Village Romantic Couples Photo Sessions that Feel Like the Movies, (where the focus will be on you two enjoying time together while I take both candid and posed photos), you can contact me to get started booking!
