Kaya and Matt should be congratulated for having one of the best intimate wedding ideas ever.
Eloping? Definitely!
Just the two of them? Heck yeah.
Renting out the space of one of the biggest wedding venues in the New York Tri-State area?! Oh yes.
This is the Hartford Connecticut City Hall Intimate Wedding you didn't know you needed to fall in love with. Keep scrolling to read more about Kaya and Matt and this space. And if you're a couple in New York City looking for an affordable and REALLY cool venue just a train ride away, I cannot recommend this venue enough. I was able to take a train the morning of and take a train the night of, so if you have guests needing to be back in the city, it's totally doable.
First of all, these two have been together for a long time and they are both artistic/creative humans and the second they told me they wanted a non-traditional wedding I knew I was the right wedding photographer pick. When I look through their photos I tear up a bit because I think you can really see how they care for one another and how grateful they are for one another. There is some real candidly captured joy in these photos that was not manufactured by me at all. I love to see it.
They wanted something funky and intimate to really enjoy time together and to really be able to focus on their love and journey. In our consult call they told me they are lovers of art, moody vibes, tattos, etc. They really wanted their wedding photos to feel artistic, elevate their joy and intimacy, and they really wanted their venue to add that artistic touch to their wedding photos.
And the Hartford City Hall did just that. It's an incredibly lovely wedding venue with lots of natural light, big columns, wonderful tiled floors. I really loved the three floors. It really felt like we were in a museum. And the best part? It was empty and open just for these two lovers to dance around and take up space hugging and kissing and remembering everything that had brought them to this moment.
Something I did to give Kaya and Matt that moody cinematic wedding photo effect is use Prism filters from Prism Lens FX. You'll notice some of the photos look more crisp and timeless while other photos are softer, filtered, and give that starburst effect to any lights in the room.
I loved making sure we got some timeless photos of them and some really dramatic cinematic shots. I think we did it! If these photos speak to you, I'm booking weddings for both 2025 and 2026 in New York City and the Tri-State area!
