Intimate Rainy Day Elopement in Greenwich Village

There’s something undeniably magical about a rainy day in Greenwich Village—the wet cobblestones reflecting light, the street lamps are on and glowing, and every corner feels like a scene from a Woody Allen movie (a Rainy Day in New York ammiright?). That’s exactly why I loved photographing Brianna and AJ's Intimate Rainy Day Elopement in Greenwich Village.
AJ arrived in a perfectly modern twist on groom’s wear: a sleek suit layered over a crisp white t‑shirt, finished with a statement brooch—one of the hottest groom accessories this year, y'all. Make room for brooches. We saw them on the red carpet in 2024 and they've continued to grace menswear ini 2025. It's only right grooms should embrace the brooch look too. Brianna complemented him in a chic sleeveless dress‑suit paired with playful matching bow‑tights and gloves, giving their look equal parts edgy editorial and romantic flair. She's the queen of bows and incorporating them into her civil ceremony outfit was such a fun idea.
The thing about fashion and having a civil ceremony before you throw the big ceremony is this: you're allowed to go a little crazy with your outfits! Your civil ceremony is allowed to be outrageous, bold, funky, fun, even.... wild. Brianna and AJ had a very modern meets fancy meets casual approach to their outfits and I loved the mood their outfits added to their photos. While their big ceremony in Florida will include a more timeless/traditional wedding look, I thought these outfits really matched the quick ceremony and quick portraits vibe.
We started by wandering the West Village cobblestone streets, their umbrella bobbing in the drizzle, sweet kisses given between the brownstones. Every frame felt cinematic.
Next, we slipped into Rosecrans—the cutest floral café tucked away on West 12th Street (and now serving wine!). Candlelight flickered against their faces as they cozied up to one another—just the two of them—amid lush blooms. Those candlelit portraits, with raindrops on the windowpane, truly felt like a movie still.

The highlight? Jefferson Market Library. We took a quick handful of photos amongst the stacks. Brianna and AJ kissing between rows of leather‑bound books—proof that sometimes the best wedding photos happen in the quietest, most unexpected places.
It was a rainy Friday, but as I always say, photoshoots should still happen in the rain because it is a mood. The rain added classic NYC drama, depth, and that editorial edge I love.
Whether you’re planning an elopement or just want cinematic portraits in the Village, this session shows how to embrace every element—rain, candles, cobblestones—and turn it into something unforgettable.
